Launching Makingrax

6th of November, 2012

Waipara put on a beautiful day in a relaxing setting as the launching of Makingtrax party went on all afternoon until early hours the next morning. A few drinks were enjoyed and pig on the grill, satisfying the appetites of our guests. A great turnout of industry leaders, wheelchair riders, curious individuals and supportive friends, enjoyed each others company, whilst enduring my presentation.

Please take some time and read through my Presentation

Here at Makingtrax we want to create a marriage of adventure and wilderness with accessibility and adaptation in order to offer wheelchair riders, both local and international and opportunity of a lifetime; working with some New Zealand's best Outdoor Adventure Companies who are excited and willing to provide tailored trips to ANY adventurers needs

Aims

Work with leading outdoor companies to provide exceptional tours and adventures for wheelchair riders

Bridge the gap between adventure company and wheelchair rider through the use of adaptive equipment, organisation and Kiwi ingenuity

Discover unique and professional adventure companies that are willing to provide adventure based activities tailored to our clients needs

Work with organisations that are willing to sponsor or assist wheelchair riders and/or sponsor an activity or event and/or sponsor specialist adaptive equipment

Enlist a team of volunteers that are willing to spare some time of their precious time whether based in one of our adventure hotspots or willing to donate a little more of their time to join us on an adventure

Create set tours so wheelchair riders can take part in single day and multi day adventure wilderness tours

Provide information and knowledge to any wheelchair rider wanting to experience in an adventure of their own

Clients

our ultimate goal is to be able to create adventures for people of any ability, in particular, those who have a willingness to push their limits. Our optimal age would be 18+, although Makingtrax may organise individual tailor-made adventures of families including younger wheelchair riders if requested.

Sponsorship

part of Makingtrax is to be able to provide client sponsorship via third party organisations and/or individuals

Tours

the only limitation to the adventures on offer will be that either we have not heard of it or have not yet tried it. The most exciting thing about Makingtrax is discovering new trips, thinking and adaptations, and making it happen. Providing the adventure company is willing to work with us to make it possible we shall find a way.

this summer makingtrax is on a journey of discovery, experimenting, finding possibilities, making adaptations and creating awareness among adventure companies to make New Zealand a wheelchair riders adventure playground.  This is the dawning of makingtrax.

Adaptations

we need adaptations and most activities to make it possible for all abilities to take part, sometimes it is something small, sometimes it is just thinking outside the box, but sometimes we need a major adaption to make it possible to take part in activities or access and activity.

Makingtrax endeavours to provide adaptations to make activities possible, these adaptations will be available for an individual to take part in any activity they desire, products will be made available to hire.

Through our sponsorship program any organisation or individual has the chance to help finance or sponsor much-needed equipment to make these adventures possible.

Volunteers

Makingtrax understands that for all abilities to take part in activities we need our support team. We welcome the opportunity for any able-bodied individuals to join us on our adventures. We will be looking for willing and enthusiastic volunteers who would like to donate some of their precious time to lend much shared hand. We will offer them full training and of course opportunity to enjoy a unique adventure.

The future

Makingtrax started as just an idea. With support and contacts I believe Makingtrax has got a very positive future. We are currently at start up stage and over the season, I am going to get out and take part in a lot of adventures, anybody that is willing to join me are most welcome. I have contacts in the industry and would like to think I have got the personality to meet many more in order to make activities possible that are not currently available. I have the skills, the spirit, the knowledge and experience to turn what started as a dream into reality. I have learnt over the years that it's more fun for a group of like-minded individuals to partake in an activity together rather than individual venturing out on his own.

If you would like to be part of this great adventure then contact me any time

thank you
